New Board Elected

The new Board of the Club has been elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Club held on Monday 7th April 2008 in Park House, Library Road, Dún Laoghaire. Outgoing Chairperson, Michael Merrigan, was reelected for a further year as was Vice-Chairperson, Anne Traynor. Derek McAsey was elected Company / Club Secretary and will also hold the Financial Controller portfolio for the time being. Others elected were Ian M. Kane, Kevin Plunkett, Sighle L'Estrange, Lorie Kelly, James Kane, Robert Rogerson, John Paul Durkan, Noel Vaughan, Jonathon Corcoran and Denis Ryan. Anne Traynor will also hold the positions of Child Protection Liaison Officer and Registrar of Members. Luke Oliver Martin and Cllr. Cormac Devlin stepped down at the AGM. The Board will assign specific portfolios to the various directors at its meeting in May.

Winning End to the Season

In the "A" Squad's last game in Division 3 the lads finally found the winning touch which had seriously eluded them for weeks. Playing against Monksfield at home was certainly not going to be a repeat of our last encounter in October 2007 when we lost by six goals without reply. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PADDY

A founding member of the Club, Patrick Kershaw, turned twenty-one on Thursday April 3rd 2008 and will celebrate this momentous achievement with a big bash at "The Wicked Wolf" in Blackrock on Saturday 5th April 2008. Paddy is most certainly one of the most outstanding and talented players that this Club had ever produced, solid and reliable in defence. Indeed, in the Club's Special 5th Anniversary Awards, Paddy received the "Best Player Award" at the celebrations held in McKenna's just before Christmas last. Choosing Paddy as a recipient for that Special Award, the Manager and the Club gave due recognition to Paddy's commitment and determination over, not only the previous season, but over the past five years since the foundation of the Club. On behalf of the Board and all the players, we wish Paddy all the best for his twenty-first and hope that all have a most enjoyable night at "The Wicked Wolf" on Saturday.

Directions to Shanganagh Cliffs

The Club's home pitch of Shanganagh Cliffs is not far from Shankill Village in south Co. Dublin. Access by DART is the easiest public transport option arriving at Shankill Station, turn right on exit and walk back along the road next to the DART line until you reach the bridge and turn right into the Shanganagh Cliffs Estate. The parkland is directly ahead with the pitch to the left. By road travelling along the M50 southbound exit at Cherrywood on to the N11 southbound to exit at Shankill Village. Just before going into the village, there is a small roundabout at St. Anne's RC Church - KEEP LEFT around the front of the church travelling in the direction of Dún Laoghaire passing a shopping centre (on your right) take the SECOND RIGHT into Rathsallagh Estate. Drive to the end of this wide road and TURN LEFT (DART on your right). Continue on to the bridge over the DART and TURN RIGHT into the Shanganagh Cliffs Estate. The parkland is directly ahead, turn left at the end at you'll see the pitch.

CHILD PROTECTION POLICY

The Board at its meeting of March 3rd 2008 appointed Mrs. Anne Traynor to the position of Club Child Protection Liaison Officer in accordance with the Child Protection Policy adopted at the Board Meeting held on February 18th 2008. The Child Protection Policy is now a part of the Club's Code of Conduct (see bottom of this blog). Copies of the Child Protection Policy will be made available to all players and non-playing members of the Club in a booklet format, however, should you wish to receive a copy at this stage, please contact the Hon. Secretary.

CLUB CODE OF CONDUCT

CODE OF CONDUCT

(Adopted 2002, Amended 18th February 2008)

This Code of Conduct shall be observed by all players whether they are members of the team, squad or substitutes.

1. Players and non-playing members shall obey the rules of the Club and all lawful instructions given by Officials of the Club, leagues or tournaments, training or match facilities etc. and shall fully observe and abide by the Club’s Child Protection Policy in respect of players or non-playing members under eighteen years of age.

2. This Code of Conduct requires that players show due respect at all times for each other, the Officials of the Club and the good name and reputation of the Club.

3. Racism, racist behaviour or language by any player will be considered a serious breach of this Code of Conduct and will be dealt with accordingly.

4. Players shall not engage in anti-social behaviour or other such behaviour likely to bring the Club into disrepute. This shall apply on the field of play, en route to or from matches or training sessions, at matches or training sessions, or whilst attending or participating at Club functions or en route to or from such functions.

5. Each player has an individual responsibility to ensure that the Club’s equipment, including kit, balls, cones, nets etc., are used properly and protected from careless damage, loss or theft.

6. Each player and non-playing member has an individual responsibility to ensure that the use of Park House, Shanganagh Cliffs, transport, training facilities, venues, pitches or other facilities is not endangered by bad behaviour, damage or otherwise.

7. Players found in breach of this Code of Conduct may be fined, suspended from playing/training or expelled from the Club by the Disciplinary Committee and, where deemed necessary, banned from attendance at matches or facilities used by the Club.

8. Observance of the Aims & Objectives of the Club is a requirement of membership for all players, non-players, Officials and Board Members.

DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES OF THE CLUB

DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES OF THE CLUB

(Extract from the Board’s Standing Orders adopted 2002)

SO. 5. ix A Select Committee established to deal with a disciplinary matter shall be cited as a “Disciplinary Committee” and shall have the following Standing Orders.

a. Details of all charges against a player or member and a copy of the Standing Orders of the Disciplinary Committee shall be delivered in writing to the person concerned not less than two days prior to the meeting of the Disciplinary Committee at which the charges are to be heard.

b. The proceedings shall commence with the recording of the names of all in attendance and a reading of the charges against the player or member and a citation by the Chairperson of the Bye Laws or articles of the “Code of Conduct” that it is alleged the person transgressed.

c. The person appearing before the Disciplinary Committee shall be entitled to deliver in their defence only such matters that address specifically the charges against him/her and therefore, no counter charges shall be admissible by the Chairperson.

d. A person appearing before the Disciplinary Committee shall be entitled to appoint an advocate to present his/her case and/or to offer advice.

e. The Disciplinary Committee and any person appearing before it may call on up to three persons to offer testimony on any matter or to assist the inquiry.

f. The Disciplinary Committee shall be expeditious in the deliverance of any decision, however, it may defer or adjourn proceedings to allow for further inquiries into the matters before it.

g. Player Directors and nominees of any external bodies shall be deemed ineligible for membership of any Disciplinary Committee.

h. Should matters for consideration by any Disciplinary Committee directly involve a member of the Board and/or Executive Committee, that person shall discharge themselves from membership of the Disciplinary Committee dealing with the matter.

i. A presumption of innocence is the right of all appearing before a Disciplinary Committee and therefore, it shall be the duty of the Chairperson of the Disciplinary Committee to ensure the fairness, thoroughness and propriety of all proceedings.

j. No new charges may be put to a person by the Disciplinary Committee, however, it may amend or strike out such charges as cited at the commencement of proceedings either on the delivery of its decision or in the course of the hearing.

k. Decisions on any matter before the Disciplinary Committee must be delivered in reference to specific breaches of Bye-Laws or articles of the “Code of Conduct” as alleged on the commencement of proceedings.

l. All matters before a Disciplinary Committee must be considered on their own merit without reference to any alleged possibility of future transgression by the person appearing before the Disciplinary Committee or by others present or not.

m. A person who fails to appear before a Disciplinary Committee without reasonable cause shall not by so doing impede the proceedings of the Disciplinary Committee which shall be empowered to deliver a decision in the absence of the player or member concerned. Decisions delivered in absentia may be appealed to the Disciplinary Committee within fourteen days of the delivery of that decision and the Chairperson shall then convene a further meeting to hear the case.

n. Decisions of a Disciplinary Committee may only be appealed to a full meeting of the Board of Directors in a case where the Disciplinary Committee decides on the expulsion of any player or member or where breaches in the Standing Orders of the Disciplinary Committee are alleged. The decision of the Board shall be final.
